GT&F Conference Indiana: #2 Lawrence Central completes sweep at IU

Second-ranked Lawrence Central won five of 16 events in holding off surprise runner-up No. 17 Franklin Central for the team title April 30 at the Conference Indiana Championships, joining the Bears’ boys in victory at Indiana University.
The Bears totaled 133 points to 108.5 for FC, with No. 16 Columbus North (88) nipping 12th-ranked Southport (87) for third and No. 5 Pike (81.5) finishing a disappointing fifth in the eight-team event.
Four of Lawrence Central’s five wins came in the field events as Taja Moore won the discus (143-9 ½), Lauren Cowden captured the long jump (17-2), Camille Hayes won the high jump (5-6), and Margo Tucker took the pole vault (12-8). The Bears also got a W from Ariana Ware, who won the 300-meter hurdles with a :44.66.
LaTeasha Hill was one of five Franklin Central winners, taking the shot put with a 38-4, while Danielle Sullivan was a double winner in winning both the 1,600 (5:11.24) and the 3,200 (11:17.11). Julia Talhelm captured the 400 in 1:00.31, while the Flashes’ 4×400
Relay unit won in 4:02.35.
Columbus North’s lone victory came from Rachael Sollman in the 800 (2:19.37).
Southport won two events as Saymah Kollison took the 100-meter hurdles in :15.01 and the Cardinals’ 4×800 relay foursome came home in a victorious 9:44.26.
Pike had three winners, two of them coming in events where the Red Devils went 1-2: Morgan Yeadon (:12.32) and Chelsea Yeadon (:12.58) in the 100 meters, and Lauren Ford (:25.71) and Yeadon (:25.99) in the 200. Pike’s 400 relay unit also won in :48.17.
